Vasa Museum   
The Vasa Museum is definitely one of Sweden’s top tourist attractions, and perhaps the most famous within Stockholm. The building is absolutely massive, which of course it needs to be to hold the massive Vasa ship.

Drottningholms Castle   
The Drottningholms Castle is a grand castle belonging to the Royal Family in Sweden. Combining a mixture of styles and influences, the front is modelled on the Palace of Versailles. This part of the building was designed by Tessin the Elder, the royal architect of the time.

Skansen   
Located on the island of Djurgarden in Stockholm, the Skansen museum is a large open-air folk museum that was founded as long ago as 1891. As well as housing the Skansen zoo, there are also over 150 traditional buildings such as homes, shops and churches.

Natural History Museum   
Created in 1739, this is the biggest museum complex in all of Sweden. There are a staggering nine million samples of biological and mineral material in the huge brick building. The building itself was designed by Axel Anderberg, who was also responsible for creating the Royal Opera in Stockholm.

Royal Dramatic Theatre   
Although not the largest theatre in Sweden, the Royal Dramatic is definitely the most respected in the arts community. This is the theatre where Greta Garbo performed before she made it big in Hollywood, and Ingmar Bergman also spent four years here directing plays before his retirement.

Gripsholm Castle   
Located on the shore of Lake Mälaren, Gripsholm Castle is one of the most beautiful in Sweden. It was the castle of Gustav Vasa, and was originally commissioned way back in 1537. Apart from its grand design, the castle is also well known for its huge collection of portrait paintings.

Skoklosters Palace   
The Skoklosters Palace is one of the grandest royal palaces in all of Sweden, with its white plastered stone façade and four round corners being particularly distinctive features. Another highlight of the palace is the jousting tournament held in the summer at the palace.

Nobel Day   
The Nobel Prize is one of the most important awards in the world, and the ceremony on the 10th of December each year. Sweden is the host of the awards event, which covers the categories of Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Literature and Peace.

Råsunda Stadium   
One of the major sports stadiums in Sweden, the Rasunda Stadium is the home of AIK Stockholm football team. It has also been used as a temporary home for the Djurgården IF’s football team.
